Accu-Lites SNAPS Wiring Connector for Tortoise Switch Machine
(You save $1.04)
SNAPS! is a wiring connector for the Tortoise Slow Motion Switch Machine.
It is composed of an edge connector that SNAPS onto the Tortoise and an 8 position terminal block for wiring the Tortoise.
Terminal block accepts wire from #14 - 22 AWG.
Eliminates a soldered connection and potential damage to interior components
Though a little pricey, I think this terminal connection is a good idea. It just snaps over where you would normally solder on a Tortoise Switch machine and replaces the solder connections with screw type terminal connections where you insert a stripped wire and turn the screw to tighten down on the wire. Its good for me because with my big hands and those tiny terminals to solder too I am either going to burn out a interior electrical component or melt one or more of the terminal plugs. So this snap on block will eliminate that worry plus make change out of a burned out tortoise switch machine as easy as a snap connection once the terminal block is wired.
Very well built and easy to use. Will definatly will be purchasing more as I need them.
SNAPS are the way to go
Using SNAPS allowed me ease in making minor circuit changes. No soldering at all, just a thin flat head screw driver. If for some reason you need to make changes or swap out a motor these will save you $$$ and aggravation.
Well made and very convenient. Purchased these for all of my switch machines for easier, cleaner installation than soldering all of the contacts. Also makes changes to the wiring a snap. Agreeing with a previous post, only issue would be with the terminal screws facing up towards the mounting surface, facing downwards seems to make more sense. Not a deal a breaker.
Although a little more expensive than the soldered edge connectors, I like these so much better for the easy of the screw terminals to be able to change or add wiring when needed.
East to install...if you Make a mistake in signal lighting just unscrew and correct!
Almost a great Idea
This makes installing the wiring on the Tortoise Switch machine a snap. Just strip the wire and screw down the terminal connector. The problem the terminal strip faces up when installed on the switch machine. If the terminal block had been mounted on the underside of the circuit board it would have been accessible all the time so you could add other connections without disconnecting the switch.
A good connector
It's a simple connector for the tortoise switch machine, with the number one pin labeled on the circuit board. The screw connections are good and tight as is the connection to the machine. I like this model with the screw connections better than the solder-on model because it's so much easier to move wires around and remove the connector when needed.
